Júlia (she/her) got her Bachelor's degree on Biology from the University of Barcelona. She performed her Bachelor thesis practical at the VIB-UGent Center for Plant Systems Biology, in the lab of Thomas Jacobs, working on the development of a heat treatment to increase genome editing in Arabidopsis thaliana. She then obtained a Master's degree in Plant Biology, Genomics and Biotechnology at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. For her Master's thesis, she worked in the CIRAD, in Montpellier, France, where she studied the role of microRNAs related to a floral abnormality in oil palm. She joined the lab of Thomas Jacobs in June 2021 for a PhD.
