Emma Coulembier Vandelannoote
Bio
Emma started het Bachelor in Biology at the University of Ghent in 2017. Later on, she pursued her Master in Marine and Lacustrine Science and Management, always being interested in aquatic biology. In 2023, she started her PhD at the lab of Plant Genome Editing at VIB and the Phycology Research Group at UGent, working on green seaweed Ulva compressa. She is interested in the high intra- and interspecific variation of morphology in Ulva, and how this variability can sometimes lead to large proliferations, called green tides. Combining this with molecular tools, she aims to better understand the mechanisms behind phenotypic variation and growth in Ulva.
